MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Apr 27 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Maritza Tavarez (University of Michigan) Instrument: CCD Direct - Echelle Problem(s) Encountered: I was observing standard fields along the celestial equator, when I noticed that the stars were trailing. This occurred even though I was using the autoguider for exposures longer than 20 seconds. At first I thought it was the focus. However, no matter how many times I tried to find the best focus, the stellar radial profiles always had some scatter. Paying closer attention to the images I noticed that the stars were distorted along the North South direction. To confirm my suspicion I checked the RA/DEC from the tcs console, and sure enough the telescope was not at the same position I had pointed to before starting the autoguider. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Apr 27 [4:51:31]
