MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Jun 6 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Jules Halpern (Columbia U.) Instrument: Echelle CCD Direct Problem(s) Encountered: Autoguider is not guiding the telescope. The guider camera and guider PC are working, but the telescope is not responding. I tried, in the following order, restarting the tvguider program, restarting the XTCS, powering off and on the guider camera voltage, powering off and on the telescope control panel, rebooting the TCS computer, attaching the cable from the guider PC to tambora (for no apparent reason), all to no avail. The relays are NOT pulsing in response to the guider PC output. All other functions of the telescope are working (manual guide, set, slew, track, focus). I didn't notice this problem until 1:00 AM because I was doing a pointing map until then, which doesn't use guiding. Even though the telescope can be used without an autoguider, I'm pretty tired after doing the pointing map, so I'll go to bed now. I wonder if this problem is related to the loss of pointing on startup. The intial position of the telescope was off by several degrees, and had to be reset using the tilt meters. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Jun 6 [3:13:31]
