MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Oct 5 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): S. Calchi Novati, S. Paulin (OSU) Instrument: MDM8K Problem(s) Encountered: with a tube connecting the bottom of the telescope with the side of the instrument towards the shutter cassette, - nitrogen was leaking when the telescope was inclined, then we removed this tube, we have left the bottom of the telescope free, and connected directly the nitrogen reservoir to the side of the instrument - after doing that, we could not move the telescope any more, we follewd Arlin Crotts sugegstion to rise the plateform as high as possible, then to move it back, and we could move the telescope again - now, the pointing is lost, the software believe that the telescope is pointing something it should not (may be the dome!) when this is not the case, anyway, with the help of Bob Barr (phone), and of Safir Salim (from the 2.4m), we manage to point the telescope correctly ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Oct 8 [10:27:39]
