MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Dec 24 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Sugerman (Columbia) Instrument: MDM 8K Problem(s) Encountered: The 8K camera just died!!! I was taking an exposure and the telescope moved because of a wind buffet, so I did ctrl-c to abort the exposure, then typed readout to get the data to disk. I typed go to take another exposure and got the following error: rdmem of DIG_IN failed Unable to verify master/slave ID bits from ACE Can't communicate with 2nd timing board; not downloading DSP code. Can't communicate with 2nd utility board; not downloading DSP code. Need to have code downloaded and power on. I tried to pof and flush and the same happens. Following the old power up/down instructions, I checked the master and slave power boxes. The slave had all LED's lit, but the master only had 3. I tried reset on both--no help. I tried power cycling each box, and now the master has 3 LED's and the slave only 2. I was on an early engineering run and Arlin's instructions were: turn on the master, 3 LEDs lit up is good. turn on the slave 2nd. if there aren't 3 LEDs on both, first try the reset button, then cycle the power, then call him. I've done the first two, but it is 3 AM EST so I think this is the end of the night's observations. -Ben Sugerman ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Dec 25 [0:57:01] NOTE: This trouble report replaces the previous report for 2001 Dec 24
