MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Feb 15 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Jacob Noel-Storr (Columbia) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: THE MIRROR COVERS did not open (I closed them while I closed the dome to do some dome flats, then when I tried to re-open them only one side opened*... The instrument rotator was not at zero either - I left it where it was so as not to rotate it with the still closed cover). -> Should the rotator always be set back to zero before closing the covers? I looked at the manual but it only says 'dont rotate it with the covers closed'... *[This, at least, is when I noticed this problem, but with hindsight I do not remember checking that all the covers had opened at the start of the night, I may have only looked at the near side in the exitement of the humidity finally dropping.] I did not solve this problem. (I tried opening the covers a few times, but always the same thing). ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Feb 16 [6:26:34]
