MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Feb 2 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Lepine, De Marco (Columbia) Instrument: MkIII spectrograph Problem(s) Encountered: Problems with cooling of the CCD: CCD was apparently not filled up properly at beginning of the night. CCD heated up to -10C before problem was found. The dewar was then filled up properly and we had to wait for the chip to cool off. On filling the dewar the first time, overflow would begin ~5 minutes after starting to fill up, becoming heavy after ~7 minutes. This has proven to be insufficient to fill the dewar. It should be indicated how long for the dewar has to be filled up (and how one can determine when it is full). Problems with acquisition on the guide camera: RA/DEC encoders were reset on a bright target at the start of the night, and the image of the star marked with a cross on the guide screen. The pointing then appeared to drift throughout the night, and was off by ~1 arcmin for targets acquired at the end of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Feb 3 [7:31:05]
