MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Jun 3

Problem(s) Encountered:
At 1:55pm today there was a 1-second power glitch.  I was
in my room and noticed the lights go off and on.  When I got
to the 2.4m control room all the computers had rebooted.
The 8K control computer mdm1 was not responsive and the air
conditioner control computer was showing an error reading
from disk c:.  I entered a for abort on the aircond computer 
and it came up  normally, but lost its previous days of data
and condiguration.  Jules and I suspect a possible y2k bug
that prevents the program from reading the correct data and
config files, especially if the date is encoded in the file
names.  I pressed the reset button on mdm1 (on the front panel)
and it started to reboot.  The power to the 8K had been
shut off in the morning.  I powered up the 8K and took some
test images.  There were some communications problems and the
images looked strange.  I performed the power cycle procedure
from the web page and everything was fine after that.  Jules
and I tested the telescope operation and it was fine.  I'd
say that we were very lucky.  All is up and ok, but the UPS
system did not work.
