MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Jun 30

Problem(s) Encountered:
This is not a serious problem but should be documented I think.
About 1/3 of the time at the beginning of the night, the very
first picture refuses to read.  The error message is:

Beginning CCD read of  332 by 1680 (557760 pixels)...
ccd_aread: wrong aio finished; expected 0.  This is bad.
*** Error encountered in asynchronous read: data suspect
Failed, return code = 0, elapsed = 2.557000

The cure is to  df echelle  and reset whatever format you use.
Sometimes one has to wait a minute or two for the electronics to
clear before the  df echelle  will take.  I can easily imagine
an inexperienced observer losing a fair amount of time to this.
