MDM Trouble Report for 2001 Sep 9 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Barr (MDM) Instrument: 8K Problem(s) Encountered: I received a call from Arlin last evening ~ 2130 about the dome not rotating from the home position When I arrived on Sunday morning I found that the north west dome drive had broken free from its mount. I inspected the the mounts and found that a mounting bolt had sheared off and that the other three bolts had striped their threads and fallen out. I replaced the dome drive with a beefer spare and inspected the other drive on the south east side of the dome, in the best case one motor should drive the dome. The track at the south east dome position (home) is bad, we will need to replace that section, it is a short segment and should work until the track is replaced. I rotated the dome and checked out everything and all seems fine. Regards, -Bob ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Sep 9 [11:10:16]
