MDM Trouble Report for 2002 Aug 31 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Erik Brogt (Columbia) Instrument: 8k Problem(s) Encountered: At first, the filter wheel could not be initialised. The error it gave was something with a dig_in bit being wrong. I could not take exposures because the computer was not sure where the wheel was. I rebooted etna and powercycled the telescope (the big switch that also controls the guider). After I booted it gave me an error in the ACE: Unable to verify master/slave ID bits from ACE mlock(shm) failed: Cannot allocate memory Readouts may fail because shared memory isn't locked down. mlockall failed: Cannot allocate memory couldn't lock down memory, please free memory on CCD host (etna) and retry This was similar to what we had yesterday, so I reset the pci boards. Now the computer would at least try to move the filter wheel again, although the error above remained and the filter wheel did not move at all, causing a filter motion time out. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2002 Sep 1 [4:30:28]
