MDM Trouble Report for 2002 Nov 5

Problem(s) Encountered:
Problem occured apparently randomly many hours into the night
At begining of focus exposure, received many errors in detcom
Pressing enter showed 2nd board failed link test
also every 10 seconds or so the following message appeared in detcom
read failed: Resource temporarily unavailable

Followed rescue procedure as outlined at
http://www.astro.columbia.edu/~arlin/MDM8K/rescue.html

procedure 1 repeated 3 times failed to fix 2nd board failing link test and periodic read failed message remained

procedure 2 also failed to fix 2nd board failing link test and periodic read failed message remained

procedure 3 after shutdown and reboot of etna read failed message went away, but still had trouble with link test

finally followed procedure 2 in a slightly different order

turn off instrument power
detach detcom
turn on instrument power
restart detcom
pon

This got everything working again.  No problems encountered 
with instrument after this point.  Suggest adding procedure 4 
with the altered ordering of instrument power up first then 
restart detcom, or rewrite the rescue doc to follow this 
ordering instead.
