MDM Trouble Report for 2002 Jun 13

Problem(s) Encountered:
At the very end of the night the find-guide mirror motion
apparently failed.  A ccdcom script driving the mirror returned
with an error message.  After that, attempts to move the mirror
with the xmis window yielded unusual behavior.  Initializing
the MIS resulted in the xmis claiming it was initialized, but
the blinking red which indicates mirror motion would then start
up and continue indefinitely.  Cycling the power on the MIS
control computer did not have any effect on the problem. 
Fortunately this happened late in AM twilight so I only lost
one or two standard star observations.

Another small matter - when the dome goes onto the contacts it
makes more noise than it used to and it looks like the contacts
have a lot of force on them.  This is probably already known to
the staff, I mention it here in case it's not.
