MDM Trouble Report for 2002 May 23 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Vestergaard (OSU) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: At 9pm (UT4) as I was starting the night suddenly PROSPERO beeped a warning while idle that the Head Electronics failed and was disabled. However, it came right back up again after I ran SEQINIT on the IC computer. It worked all night after that with a single momentary glitz around 4am (UT11) when on finishing an integration the `CountDown' counter went to a large value instead of going to zero. It sat there for several seconds (10+) and then recovered and read out the detector. After the HE went down (and came up) the next long exposure was set to 900secs but the instrument controler stopped the integration after some 350secs. It was cleared (it seemed) by running `startup' in PROSPERO. Things went fine until 4:25am. On readout the electronics failed and aborted. I tried running `seqinit' on IC again, but realized that I had to run `istatus' first in PROSPERO (which I had done the first time I had problems) in order for the electronics to come back up. However not for long. Half hour later the PROSPERO beeped a warning that the Head Electronics had failed and was disabled. This time around none of the tricks that worked earlier did any good. I also tried turning off the power to the head electronics box for a while, and then running `seqinit' on IC, which helped the other night. But not this time around. I was trying to revive it as I needed additional calibration data. However, now almost two hours later, I still haven't managed, and I give up. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2002 May 24 [5:58:50]
