MDM Trouble Report for 2002 Oct 24 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): John Thorstensen (Dartmouth) Instrument: Echelle direct Problem(s) Encountered: The telescope was tracking and guiding a target normally when the dome started rotating slowly, like it does when it makes a fine adjustment. However, instead of stopping, it just kept on a-going, eventually making a nearly complete circuit. I hit the xtcs window red stop button (not the hardware stop on the black panel) to no effect -- eventually it just sort of woke up and realized where it was. I recall this happening to me before a couple times, maybe last night as well, but I don't think I've documented it. Lost almost no time, luckily I was close enough to the zenith so as not to lose the guide star entirely. Lost a lotta light, though. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2002 Oct 25 [7:09:52]
