MDM Trouble Report for 2003 Oct 22

Problem(s) Encountered:
The telscope appears to randomly start slewing across the sky.  While 
acquiring a target, the telescope would slew to the field and then continue
past the field for 5-10 arcmin.  During this time I see the TCS RA 
sporadically going from  track  to  slew  and back. The TCS displays 
 RA or DEC Encoders Not Responding.   It was a little alarming because 
I could not stop the telescope.  Eventually, on its own, it would return to 
the targeted field to within 1 arcmin.  
The second time this happened I was at an AZ=26.5 and AL=72.0, 
airmass 1.053, UT=12:30:46,ST=07:08:30.  ?????
