MDM Trouble Report for 2004 Feb 26 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Vanlandingham (Columbia) Instrument: Templeton direct Problem(s) Encountered: The telescope tracking is slipping. Most of the time turning the guider on will correct the problem however at times even the guider can't keep up and the star drifts out of the guiding box. At this point I have been able to correct the problem by turning the tracking and drives off and then turning them back on and reacquiring the guide star. Without the guider on you can actually watch the RA slowly increase while the telescope is supposed to be tracking. Sometimes when the guider is on the star still tends to be at the bottom the guiding box instead of the center and some images have elongated stars. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2004 Feb 27 [0:39:45]
