MDM Trouble Report for 2004 Nov 11 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): patrick cseresnjes (columbia) Instrument: 8K camera Problem(s) Encountered: When the telescope pointed at an airmass > 1.8, the 2nd controller (slave) of the 8K camera powered off. To bring it back, I had to switch off the controllers (both master and slave), detach the detcom window, switch on the controllers, and launch a new detcom session. After that, the camera would work as long as the target remained at an airmass < 1.8, otherwise, the same problem occured. Therefore, our main target (M31) could no more be observed once it reached the airmass of 1.8. This is not too big a loss since M31 was going to be unobservable anyway, but it would have been nice to take advantage of the excellent observing conditions a bit longer. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2004 Nov 11 [5:33:56]
