MDM Trouble Report for 2005 Aug 28 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Jules Halpern (Columbia U.) Instrument: Templeton Problem(s) Encountered: Well, that was an interesting story, but not all parts of it were true. For one thing, I think that I recall there sometimes being more than one double image per night many years ago. And second, I do recall that you can sometimes see the star jump in a diagonal direction, which if it is far enough will cause the guider to beep. On this run, I have not see the jumps on the guider, but the double images are only 3-4 arcseconds apart, so it's possible that I wasn't watching. And the motion was not large enough for the star to leave the guide box. Speaking of beeps, CCDDOM no longer beeps when the exposures are finished, and I'm having to struggle to stay awake enough to be ready for the next exposure. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Aug 28 [0:15:42]
