MDM Trouble Report for 2005 Feb 26 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): McGreer (Columbia) Instrument: TIFKAM Problem(s) Encountered: I wrote a Prospero script that took two zero second exposures and stored them in a memory buffer. It appeared the second exposure was taken, but the script hung and the file was never written to disk. After several minutes I used Ctrl-C. Then no Prospero commands would work. First, I tried to restart Prospero. It failed to connect to the WC. I exited and restarted the wc program, but that did not help. I noticed that the IC screen had several lines of error messages about bad disk sectors. I then rebooted the WC and IC. At first the WC complained about invalid messages from ariel, and also failed to connect to the TCS. I eventually realized I had not restarted everything in the proper order (xtcs launched before wc started, caliban also needed to be restarted), once I got the that right I was able to restore working order by issuing the commands '>ic req initdisk' and 'tcinit' to the WC. There seem to be no further problems, I tried taking exposures and the files wrote to disk. The WC monitor still shows '-UPSYNC' and '-DNSYNC', but perhaps that is expected. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Feb 26 [5:52:33]
