MDM Trouble Report for 2005 Jun 16

Problem(s) Encountered:
A Prospero script that dithers using the  tcs 'gdxy -- --' 
command reported an error communicating with XMIS.  Then ariel
error messages appeared in the Prospero window and it reported
that the command timed out.  At that point, XMIS hung and was
unresponsive (for a moment before that, it started arbitrarily
moving the guider and blinking various buttons.  I waited for
some time after it calmed down, and it still did not respond.)
I called Bob who had me restart the XMIS machine
in the control room.  Now XMIS was OK, but when I attempted to
move the telescope it was clear I was not in the right location.
I then noticed that the telescope did not seem to be responding
to XTCS commands.  Bob walked me through slewing to zenith,
restarting XTCS, and resetting the encoders.  After pointing at
a couple of guide stars everything was OK.
