MDM Trouble Report for 2006 Aug 29 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Kunder (Dartmouth) Instrument: Templeton Problem(s) Encountered: The telescope hit the northern pier while observing at high northern declinations. I tried to use the 7o SLEW and SLEW OVERRIDE buttons together with the correct direction button to get the telescope back to near the zenith. However, the telescope refused to move again. I then tried to use the hand paddle to get the telescope to move. I dome button got jammed, and the dome went around and around and around. I called for John Thorstensen to help me, and he came from the 2.4m telescope to take a look at the situation. We unplugged the hand paddle and fixed the button to the best of my ability. When we plugged the hand paddle back in, the telescope dome seemed to be functioning normally again. However, we never were able to move the telescope. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Aug 30 [0:04:41]
