MDM Trouble Report for 2006 Jun 14 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): G. Tiede, C. Bunner (Bowling Green State University) Instrument: TIFKAM Problem(s) Encountered: About two of the three lost hours were due to clouds. The other hour was lost due to a pronounced jitter in pointings between +- 1 hour HA and between ~30 and 50 Dec. We first noticed a 1-2 arcsec jitter in a pointing near -1 HA +56 Dec. It had a frequency of ~2-3 Hz and occurred simultaneously in both RA and DEC with or without guiding. Subsequent pointings to > +2 HA did not show the jitter. Finally a pointing at +0:08 HA +56 DEC and -1:30 HA +32 Dec had an even larger jitter, around 5-15 arcsec in both axes. With only 1 hour left we closed. We did not drive the telescope into anything nor point to low altitudes. The wind generally diminished during the night and was less than 5 mph everytime we experienced the jitter. There were no unusual occurances that we noted which lead up to this jitter. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Jun 14 [3:09:46]
