MDM Trouble Report for 2006 May 28 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Nick Morgan (OSU) Instrument: 8k Mosaic Problem(s) Encountered: Right before morning twilight, the dome started rotating while I was in the middle of an exposure. It rotated two complete revolutions in azimuth before I could stop it. - Flipping the 'auto dome' switch to off (TCS box) didn't stop it. - Flipping the 'dome' switch from free to home didn't stop it. - Shutting off the auto dome enabler (yellow button in control room) did stop it. With the yellow button off, I aligned the dome back to 320, reset the dome az encoder, and then pushed the auto dome enabler back on. The dome started rotating as before, continuing right pass the telescope azimuth. So I killed the auto dome enabler again to stop it. Then I parked the telescope at zenith. This time, the dome did not start rotating when the auto dome enabler was turned back on. I switched to 'dome home' on the TCS box and the dome moved back to 320 and stopped by itself. So I think it is ok now. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 May 28 [5:40:40]
