MDM Trouble Report for 2006 Nov 29 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Eastman (OSU) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: I pointed to 7:35:37 +66:24:33 (-1 hour angle). When I tried to position the object into the slit with the guider or the paddle, I got an error message that the RA and Dec encoders stopped responding. I restarted the TCS and and tried again, this time getting an error message that just the Dec encoder was not responding. I tried to point to a bright star (moves through the TCS worked without a problem) and reset the encoders, but that didn't help. Then I pointed to +40 dec and it worked. I found a bright star, reset the encoders and tried it back at +66 dec, and everything was fine. The wind is strong (gusts up to 30 mph, average around 20 mph) and it's cold (-7 C). ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Nov 30 [2:53:17]
