MDM Trouble Report for 2007 Sep 10 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Eastman (OSU) Instrument: 4k Problem(s) Encountered: The guider cannot focus when the 4k is in focus; it hits the limit well before that. The focus for the 4k was significantly higher than the previous instrument (9500 vs 8800). I don't recall the focus being that different from the engineering run in November 2006, but I could be mistaken. The guider focus was certainly not a problem last year. I slewed to very high airmass (~10) to get engineering data about the effect of position on the collimation of the telescope. When I tried to slew back, the fast slew stopped working. I had to use the set slew to get it back to ~6 airmasses, then the fast slew worked. I suppose that's not a limit people encounter very often, but I was never aware of it. Is that normal? ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Sep 11 [5:57:48]
