MDM Trouble Report for 2008 Dec 22 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Nathan Crockett (University of Michigan) Instrument: Nellie Problem(s) Encountered: During the second part of the night the telescope would wobble along dec. I first noticed this in the guider camera when the guider would lose the guide star. The guide star would bounce back and forth along the North/South axis. The movement seemed random. I thought it might be a problem with the guider, but the problem persisted even if I turned off guiding. The magnitude of the wobble could get as large as an arc minute. As a result, many of the images I took during the second part of the night look like they contain vertical lines, instead of well defined PSF's. Winds were not particularly strong last night (10-15 mph), so I'm not sure that was the problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Dec 22 [5:43:52]
