MDM Trouble Report for 2008 Jan 21 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Denney and Grier (OSU) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: First off, we experienced the same minor problems as last night: 1.) CCDOPS locked up on us again, and we had to cycle the power on the camera and restart the computer. I'm not sure why this keeps happening. I've only had this happen once before in all my runs, and now this had been several times in two nights. 2.) Prospero lost communication with the IE, so any command we typed in was not executed. Typing seqinit on the IC again fixed this problem. The other problem we had, which we've actually been experiencing since the IC was brought down from the 2.4m to fix our previous problems with CCDS readout, is that there's still an apparent readout error, but only column 1200 is affected. Because this didn't affect our data at all (I'll trim the first few and last few columns during reduction anyway) and it's been the weekend, I haven't mentioned this problem previously, but someone should still probably look into it. I'll get some example images to Rick Pogge at OSU as soon as I return. Also, I didn't try to do anything to fix this problem - so it could possibly be a simple fix. Regardless, I thought I should mention it. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Jan 21 [5:34:22]
