MDM Trouble Report for 2008 Nov 17

Instrument: MkIII Spectrograph + Nellie

Problem(s) Encountered:
We had serious communication problems with the camera (Nellie),
which would not respond to  cl ,  ut , and  sync  command about
half the time, and would give  asynchronous read  errors while
reading the chip. Also sometimes the chip read format would 
apparently spontaneously reset itself in between exposures 
(or halfway through), binning to  0x0 .

We made multiple  attempts at resetting the hardware, re-powering 
the camera, re-uploading the software, to no avail.

If there's a chance these problems have to do with Nellie, 
we would be happy to use Wilbur instead.
