MDM Trouble Report for 2009 Mar 10 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): John Thorstensen (Dartmouth) Instrument: Templeton CCD + Buckeye FW Problem(s) Encountered: While I was setting up on a field about 4 hrs east and about +25 degrees, I noticed the guide star jumping in E-W, about 10 arcsec and about one jump every 2 sec. Winds were extremely light at the time, so it wasn't wind shake. When I went out in the dome I could hear a light clunk in rhythm with the jumps, and the HA drive was visibly jumping a bit. I played with the preload lever a bit (maybe I shouldn't have) and it worked ok for the rest of the night. Also, as noted in the observing report, the scale parameter for the offset guide probe is evidently incorrect in the manual. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Mar 11 [7:09:58]
