MDM Trouble Report for 2010 Jan 10 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Fesen (Dartmouth) Instrument: Direct Problem(s) Encountered: The MIS would not respond or initialize itself. I tried repeated resets and power cycles as well as restarting the MIS window. I used the stuck settings (5000,5000) and I worked just fine the whole night....something I'd like to do tonight if the fix is a big problem. Tonight is suppose to be clear so if the MIS isn't fixed, I can still use it as it currently is set (i.e., at 5000,5000). Also during the night when the telescope was some 3-4 hrs over to the west, the telescope began rapidly nodding, moving about 10-20 arcsec back and forth. It finally calmed down when I tried (a few times) to guide. It finally behaved itself and no further nodding/movement was seen the rest of the night. In summary, I lost about 0.5 hr with the MIS problem and about 10 min due to the telescope nodding problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Jan 11 [7:45:32]
