MDM Trouble Report for 2010 Jun 3 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Schroeder (Columbia) Instrument: Echelle Problem(s) Encountered: The CCD did not seem to be reading out properly. This was noticed first when trying to take flats at the beginning of the night. Horizontal lines traced across the chip in the twilight. Attempting to see if any observations at all were possible, I moved to a bright star. Nothing was seen upon reading out the chip. Bob was on the phone for about 1.5 hours trying to ascertain what the issue was. After determining that it was not an issue with the physical mechanisms since the guider was seeing stars, we decided to take some internal flats using the xmis lamp. One flat was properly saturated, but another flat with a different filter exhibited the same features as the earlier twilight flats. Attempted observations after this failed. The guider probe was at the origin and the mirror was out with no results possible. Sadly, all possible observations were missed for the night. Bob believes that this may be a timing board problem and will address it in the morning. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Jun 3 [21:45:13]
