MDM Trouble Report for 2010 Nov 14 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): J. Thorstensen & E Dauson (Dartmouth) Instrument: modspec + echelle CCD Problem(s) Encountered: We inadvertently turned off the power strip that feeds the guider computers, so we had to restart them. For some reason, the guider camera's shutter now operates when it's in expose mode, i.e. when it's taking continuous pictures for acquisition. This is the case even though the option for leaving the shutter open is selected in the Maxim DL software. It does not seem to open when it's taking exposures for tracking. We tried quitting the Maxim DL program, bringing the camera up under Solis, and selecting shutter open there; also power cycling the camera (which would seem unlikely). The Solis camera (slit viewer) shutter did not operate. This isn't a problem, except for the wear and tear on the shutter. We did pay for the shutter-open option, so it oughta work. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Nov 14 [5:33:06]
