MDM Trouble Report for 2010 Oct 8 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): D. Milisavljevic (Dartmouth) Instrument: Mark III + Templeton Problem(s) Encountered: I reached the limit of the guider probe adjustment and could not achieve focus from inside the control room. John talk me through the first half of the procedure, then Bob helped finish things off. Difficult part was moving the piston in the MIS box. That thing wouldn't move! Thankfully, however, after my last strained push (and after falling off the step ladder) I had pushed it in enough for reasonable focus. The piston remains at its limit, which I take to mean that the probe could be pushed in more if one were to be able to muster the strength. If I'm committed I may try pushing some more after a deserved sleep, but since things already worked well tonight I will likely just leave things alone. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Oct 9 [6:06:52]
