MDM Trouble Report for 2010 Sep 20

Problem(s) Encountered:
After powering on all systems following the lightning shut-down, 
Maxim DL (guider camera software) could not connect to the Andor
camera. I first called Bob and then had to wake up John Thorstensen
in the middle of the night. When power-cycling the camera did 
not solve the problem, and checking many parameters did not 
yield any clue, John suggested power cycling the PC after turning 
on auto-guider, motor, and track. This worked: tracking worked 
perfectly there on. Apparently, the order in which the steps are 
carried out following a total shut-down is a factor here. This 
needs to be clarified in the manual over time. 

However, I did not lose any hours due to this problem. Overcast 
conditions continued while we were getting the guider to work.
