MDM Trouble Report for 2011 Feb 24 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Hart, Zastrow (University of Michigan) Instrument: 4K Problem(s) Encountered: At the beginning of the night, JSkyCalc would not slew the telescope to desired position. We pushed reset telescope coordinates which changed the telescopes coordinates in the TCS without moving the telescope. We called Bob and he guided us through the steps needed to manually home and reset the proper telescope positioning. After that, operations resumed as normal although we started to notice the focus seemed off. We tried to find the focus using the focus routine described on the 4K instrument webpage. Focus was not stable, coming out of focus in between exposures of the same field with the same filter. This resulted in elongation and mutilple images. After trying to fix the focus that way a few more times, we resorted to trial and error to find the focus. Near the end of the night, the TCS status showed an error message: Error mirror mirror neither open nor closed even though the top part of the TCS panel said the mirror was Open (in green). We fixed this by first closing then opening the mirror. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Feb 25 [5:45:28]
