MDM Trouble Report for 2011 Jan 2 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Halpern, Bord (Columbia) Instrument: Dome Problem(s) Encountered: I am Jules, writing an update on the dome problem at the 1.3m. I went up on a ladder and looked at the dome motor next to the control panel, and I can see what the problem is. The two allen screws that hold the dome motor to its base plate are loose and one screw is completely disconnected from its hole. Unfortunately, the disconnected one is the one in the rear, where the access is more difficult. So the motor twists horizontally, and lifts up somewhat, because only one screw is in. I can't get that screw back into its hole no matter how I try. It may even have sheared off, because it looks cut. On the other hand, I don't know if it was cut deliberately to fit. In addition, the bolts that hold the base plate to the dome are also a bit loose, which allows the motor to lift up. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Jan 2 [15:31:17] NOTE: This trouble report replaces the previous report for 2011 Jan 2
