MDM Trouble Report for 2011 Apr 10 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Stoll (OSU) Instrument: OSMOS Problem(s) Encountered: After two days of >90% humidity, had condensation on the dewar window of the 4k. Possibly simply taking long exposures and waiting for it to disappear would have solved the problem; after consulting Bob and considering my familiarity with OSMOS, I took the quicker and more drastic solution of opening the instrument, retracting the camera, and aiming dry nitrogen directly at the dewar window, which quickly solved the problem. The fastest way to solve this problem would be to avoid it in the first place. I caution all OSMOS observers to avoid opening the shutter when the humidity is above 80%, night or day. Resist the urge to take daytime calibrations in bad weather! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Apr 11 [7:23:49]
