MDM Trouble Report for 2012 Aug 20 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Rhiannon Griffin (University of Oklahoma) Instrument: OSMOS Problem(s) Encountered: It rained all evening, stopping around sunset, eventually the clouds cleared up around 2 am. Earlier in the evening I had noticed that if another window covered up the Prospero Status window, it would go blank and even typing 'startup' or 'status' in the pr command line didn't help completely (some of the words came back, but it looked different). So I ended up closing and reopening the prospero command window (which may have been a mistake?). When I did try to observe, I used the observe command to take one image, the pr command line gave me this: Starting IR image 1 of 1 [IS > ERROR: No Route to Destination Host IR - host is unknown/ unlisted] It then took image 2 of 1 and tried to take image 3 of 1, but I tried to abort using the 'x' command and it gave me: ABORTING Integration... Please wait for the abort sequencce to complete (<45sec) [IS > ERROR: No Route to Destination Host IR - host is unknown/ unlisted] and then it refused to abort. I checked that the shutter wasn't open and just closed and restarted the prospero window. I tried taking another image and then it said 'Starting IR image 1 of 0' and gave me the same error message as before. Again I tried to abort, it didn't work, so I closed prospero window, xtcs, xmis2 and quit out of the ISIS, Caliban, MDMTCS Agent and OSMOS IE terminal windows. I restarted xtcs, initialized, and then restarted xmis2 and initialized. Now the xmis window has several red buttons (I don't think they were red before) and says Error NO Lamp communications, check log. I restarted the 4 terminal windows and Prospero, tried to take one more image and got the same error as before. Then I noticed the humidity had gotten too high at 86% so I quit for the night. Also noticed the images that were taken had a weird effect on them, probably a small amount of water (is my guess). ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Aug 21 [3:34:13]
