MDM Trouble Report for 2012 Dec 19 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Haojing Yan & Zhiyuan Ma (University of Missouri-Columbia) Instrument: OSMOS + B4K Problem(s) Encountered: 1. Right after we began our observations on the first target field, Prospero Status window showed Filter1 in red ****. We tried to rotate filter1, but it reported the following error: pr> filter1 2 Setting filter1... Error: Command returned error ERROR: FILTER1 FILTER1=TIMEOUT cannot read from 140.252.83.155:8005 Error setting the Filter1 Programming Error: invalid error code: -99 FILTER1 request aborted with errors. Execution error in Prospero command. Command: filter1 2 Following what we found in the troubleshooting document, we quit the IE window, went to the dome to restart the IE box, re-started the IE window, and typed startup in the Prospero command window. This regained the communication to Filter1. However, only after ~ 30 minutes the communication to Filter1 dropped again. As we were only using one filter and it was in place, we decided to live with this problem. Currently it still shows red ***** in the Prospero Status window, and we left it as is for the staff to diagnose. 2. When moving the guider probe according to the X,Y position as given in JSkycalc, the desired guide star was always very close to the bottom edge of the guider window. We had to manually add +400 to dx to move the star to a workable position. This problem was there during our first night (12/17), and it remained the same tonight, which made us believe that there might be some problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Dec 20 [7:38:21]
