MDM Trouble Report for 2013 Feb 04 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Kay & Moran (Columbia) Instrument: templeton direct Problem(s) Encountered: Large slews to objects worked, and the object appears at top corner of image. But attempts to center on the object were not successful: using the offset button on the GUI, making slight adjustments in the 'new RA' and 'Dec' boxes on the GUI, and using the command line ('offset' or 'point') either did not move the telescope at all or moved it in unexpected directions and/or amounts. In these cases, the TCS control panel indicated the coordinates had changed after the attempted move, but the image showed that no change (or a change different than the one we wanted) had occurred. We also had intermittent 'point not converging' errors with some large and small movements. These would leave us somewhere on the way to the next position, so we would toggle the tracking, return to the zenith, attempt the move again, and it often then worked. Finally, at least once, a command-line 'point' command was made, but the telescope didn't move and and the status line showed instead a response to a 'where' command ('where' had been the previous command and had executed successfully). We checked and zeroed the tilt meters, refreshed and restarted the TCS GUI, and restarted the telescope `services' on McGraw - none of which had an effect. We did not attempt to reboot McGraw. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Feb 6 [5:24:41]
