MDM Trouble Report for 2013 Jun 07 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): John Thorstensen (Dartmouth) Instrument: Andor direct Problem(s) Encountered: The telescope did some nodding early in the night -- the so-called nod is more like spasmodic north-south jerking, actually. Didn't lose much time, but of course it's mighty annoying! Where I did lose time was around 2:30 AM when Hill apparently crashed, taking the telescope down with it. I stopped an integration, and lost it -- the Andor software doesn't let you save the data cube so far, but I think the data were not going to be good enough anyway, so no great loss. Symptom was that the telescope stopped tracking, and the GUI gave an error message that it couldn't contact the telescope server. I tried to ssh to hill but got a 'no route to host' error. I went down there and found hill was not listed on the Raritan, so I powered hill down by hand and turned it back on, and restarted rtel. Amazingly, the telescope still knew where it was. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Jun 8 [5:13:18]
