MDM Trouble Report for 2013 May 30 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Dale Mudd (Ohio State) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: There was some N-S nodding again tonight, but it was much more more intermittent and less severe than the previous two nights. The biggest issue tonight was, at about 1:30, the image readout showed a very strange pattern appear on the detector. It looked to be some sort of splash or smear pattern. I asked over at the 2.4m and the observers there mentioned that they had heard tales of some sort of dewar leak causing similar problems at certain telescope angles. Hoping that moving around would help, I tried pointing the telescope to a few different objects as well as zenith, but the pattern remained on all subsequent images, seeming to get a little worse as the night progressed. I've left it up on the SOYO monitor for you to check- that's from a 300s exposure at zenith. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 May 31 [3:58:07]
