MDM Trouble Report for 2013 Jun 21 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Matthew Wilde (AMNH) Instrument: TIFKAM Problem(s) Encountered: Telescope stuck. This was what happened to me last night as well but this time I had more time to explore what is happening. Telescope will not move south below ~+33 00 00. It got stuck early in the night and I managed to slew it back to zenith and it seemed to work OK briefly, but I was only going for northerly objects. After trying to go south it stopped responding. I restarted xtcs then the tcs computer and then everything I could think of. I tried to send it to the zenith and it wouldn't quite make it (its at DEC: +33 45 50, so its not sideways). It will slew north, east and west without a problem but not south. It also seemed to make a groaning noise. perhaps it always makes that noise but I only heard it because I sent the dome home after a while. Also, both times it got stuck, the main fork seemed to be in the same position. I have a picture I can email you. The first time I got it back to zenith the second time I couldn't. I hope this isn't anything stupid on my part! I've checked the manual but cant figure anything out. Always on a friday.... ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Jun 22 [4:15:42]
