MDM Trouble Report for 2013 Nov 26 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): James Runge, Marat Musin (University of Missouri-Columbia) Instrument: OSMOS+R4K Problem(s) Encountered: At the beginning of the night, when we tried to open the mirror covers, we noticed that they did not open at all. We contacted Eric to see what the problem could possibly be. We proceeded to move the COMPRESSOR/CYLINDER valve to CYLINDER for 10 seconds and then moved it back to COMPRESSOR. This had no effect. The pressure was at 80 kPa, which is normal. We slewed the telescope to the west in order to see the mirror covers better. We noticed that the East flap was overlapping on top of the North/South flaps. This means that the mirror covers did not close in the proper order. We used a ladder to manually lift the obstructing flap so that the North/South mirror covers could open. Once this was accomplished, the East/West covers proceeded to open normally. When we shutdown for the night, we took care to make sure that the mirror covers closed in the correct order, which they did. Of other interest, the values on the 2.4m Air Conditioning System - Data Display did not change all night. We realized this when the humidity displayed stayed at 55.1% while the humidity on the WEATHER DISPLAY clearly changed throughout the night. Also, the motor to the dropout shutter sounded abnormal when the dropout was almost closed. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Nov 27 [5:17:42]
