MDM Trouble Report for 2013 Oct 16 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Rhiannon Griffin (University of Oklahoma) Instrument: OSMOS, R4k Problem(s) Encountered: I started off the night with sky flats and some long exposures (about 10 minutes). Many of my images looked weird and turned out bad. Some looked like different sized images stacked on top of each other. Others had horizontal sections that seemed more zoomed in, even the background noise stripes had different widths. It seemed like there was an error with reading out. After calling and discussing the issue with Eric, I tried several things. Some test exposures worked but the problem would return. I tried restarting Prospero. I tried typing seqinit on the Raritan keyboard. I tried closing Prospero, the 4 terminal windows (IE, Caliban, ISIS, TCS), power cycling HE, typing sequinit and restarting the terminals. I also tried the previous steps, but also typing quit and CTRL+ALT+DEL on the Raritan keyboard to restart that computer. After this, when I took an exposure of the sky, the image looked way different and the issue seemed worse. Where as before I could still see stars and some parts of the exposure still looked normal, now the image just looked like noise. So I gave up on observing for the night and stowed the telescope. I was able to take some usable sky flats and 3 good, long exposures. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Oct 17 [5:32:33]
