MDM Trouble Report for 2014 Feb 19 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Kim, Penny (OSU) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: Telescope did not slew to next target because the instrument-end of the telescope was resting on top of the a refill dewar resting on the platform. We had been observing a target very low to the west, which had brought the end of the telescope close to the platform. We attempted to slide the refill dewar out from under the telescope, but it was wedged fairly tightly, and worried that the extra pressure we were putting on the refill dewar by doing so would cause its spout to break, we instead used the Telescope Hand Paddle GUI to point the telescope west, closer to the horizon. Slewing by about 1 arcminute cleared ~2 inches above the refill dewer, allowing us to relocate the dewar to the edge of the platform. After checking that the telescope could slew to targets low in the west, we pointed it to zenith successfully, and made sure that it could point and track properly and that the tilt sensors were giving reasonable readings at zenith. The only fix required was to reset the telescope coordinates. We observed for the remainder of the night without further problems. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Feb 20 [7:30:15]
