MDM Trouble Report for 2014 Mar 21 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Grier (Ohio State) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: Was having trouble with the now-familiar N-S nodding of the telescope. First noticed it on our first standard star of the night at airmass 1.4 (forgot to record HA of that one) but it wasn't bad enough to prohibit observing. However, when moving to our second AGN of the night, NGC2617, at HA 00:31:20, Dec -4:08:15.5, there was a HUGE N-S nodding effect, prohibiting the observations of that target. I left and went on to the next source, which was fine, and then came back to NGC2617 an hour and a half later, but it was still doing it, so we were completely unable to get observations of that target tonight. I also noticed very small N-S shaking/wiggling with our second standard star, Feige 34, at HA=00:11:20 and Dec +43:02:10.4. The amplitude was much smaller, though so I just observed it anyway. Other than that, everything else worked fine, but this is extremely frustrating! Tomorrow I'll try doing NGC2617 first, but it may be that we can no longer really observe this target. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Mar 22 [5:29:34]
