MDM Trouble Report for 2014 May 03 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Lochhaas/Runnoe (OSU) Instrument: CCDS Problem(s) Encountered: The guiding camera repeatedly lost the star it was guiding on and often picked it up again after a minute or less. Twice, it did not find the star again after waiting a few minutes so we had to terminate the exposure and reset it. We only had this issue while observing PG1244+026 at RA 12:36:05.20 Dec +02:22:09.0. We were not able to fix the issue, but when we were finished with PG1244+026 we sent the telescope back to zenith before moving to the next target and had no further problems. It appeared, from the CCDS Acquisition camera, that the telescope was shifting +- >10 in the N-S direction and perhaps this is why the guider lost its guide star. We think this might be the nodding issue, but the amount of shifting seemed quite large. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 May 4 [5:02:45]
