MDM Trouble Report for 2015 May 02 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Alper & Thorstensen (Dartmouth) Instrument: MkIII/Templeton Problem(s) Encountered: When slewing to my first target, JSkyCalc gave a slew error message. Trying to point with the TCS yielded much the same result with tracking being automatically turned off after each unsuccessful slew attempt. As I was remote observing from the 2.4, I went down to the 1.3 and discovered that the dome was fine, and that it just seemed to be the telescope at issue. I rebooted the server to no avail, and so put in a call to Eric. With Eric on the line, I cycled the TCS with no result. I then checked the dec drive, and saw it was displaying an error. Eric instructed me to turn off the TCS, turn off the dec drive power, turn it back on, then turns the TCS back on. Upon rebooting the server and software (MIS, TCS, and SkyCalc), and re-homing everything, slewing was back to normal and observing proceeded smoothly for the rest of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 May 3 [5:30:05]
