MDM Trouble Report for 2015 May 09 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Spencer, Oey, Astro 461 (Michigan) Instrument: 4k Problem(s) Encountered: We had trouble getting the pointing to work properly. Also, when resetting the pointing, it would not reset to the stated coordinates. They were off by about 50 arcsec E. Then when guiding, we tried using the procedure in the JskyCalc manual. It found the guide star ok. Under the guide tab, track button, when we clicked start, the guide star did not appear in the small box. The x, y pixel position did match its position in the image. We think this caused the tracking to stop. After that, the tracking would not restart, apparently because we hit a W elevation limit. We then had a lot of trouble resolving this. There is no documentation or warning about this limit. We finally had to enable the hard paddle to get out of this, which we found after a long time. We then had to redo the pointing calib. Although the resetting worked better this time, the pointing did not behave properly. At the end of the night, Prospero stopped working. It did not display the usual ***Exposure Started*** message. When we types Ctrl+c it then brought up the ***Exposure Started*** message, however the total exposure time was not what we had entered. (Stars that did not previously saturate were now saturated.) ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 May 10 [4:40:17]
